Reward Charts- reward your child, don’t bribe!
posted by Leave a Comment
I’ve attempted to use reward charts that I’ve made up myself and taped onto the fridge several times, only to forget them with our busy schedules and travels. Friends who have seen them ask if it works and I personally feel that they do as long as they are used on a regular basis. I also find that a lot depends on the age of the child in order for them to comprehend what the rewards chart is based on and what’s in it for them. Personally I seem to start a new reward chart when Luca nearly 5 years of age goes through a tantrum stage. It helps us both as I can talk and refer to the chart rather than my words not being heard and both of us getting frustrated. He also understands that he is in control of his actions whereby there is a reward or a consequence – a sticker or none!

Below I have listed several professional sites dealing with the topic as well as links to many different chart ideas.

My name is Bronwyn and I am an Australian expat currently living in Munich, Germany with my husband and two children Luca & Giselle. If you are wondering why my blog is called Chicks n' Dudes, well apart from it meaning "girl&boy" it represents my two little ones, who although are 3 and 5 years of age will always be my little chick & dude.
